WAFU B 17: Ogum relishes selection ‘headache’ as Ghana face Togo tomorrow

Ghana is aiming to qualify once again for the U17 AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations).

Head Coach of the Black Starlets, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, says he is relishing the “positive headache” of having a full squad to choose from ahead of Ghana’s WAFU Zone B U17 Championship opener against Togo on Saturday.

Ghana will begin their campaign against their neighbors at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, aiming for a strong start.

All 23 players passed the mandatory MRI test, giving the technical team a complete pool of talent for selection.

Dr. Ogum believes this healthy competition in camp will sharpen the team for the task ahead.

It’s a headache, yes. But for me, it’s a positive headache to have all my players available. It shows the work we’ve put in and the quality we have in camp. Everyone is ready, and that competition is exactly what we need to perform at the highest level,” he told the GFA Media Team after Friday’s training session.

The Black Starlets, who have been preparing in Yamoussoukro since Monday, will face Ivory Coast and Niger later in Group A, as they aim to secure qualification for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
