West Ham reject player-plus-cash deal from Chelsea for Mohammed Kudus

Kudus has turned down interest from Saudi Arabia

Chelsea have seen a player-plus-cash deal for Mohammed Kudus turned down by West Ham United, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet claims that the Blues “were willing to offer the likes of Robert Sanchez and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in exchange for the Ghana international.”

Saudi Pro League clubs have also been linked with a summer move for the 24-year-old, with Al Nassr considering an £85m swoop in early April.

However, Kudus wants to continue his career in the Premier League and has turned down interest from Saudi Arabia.

He moved to the London stadium from Eredivisie giants Ajax for £38million and has since racked up 80 appearances, scored 19 goals, and provided 10 assists in all competitions.

Last season, he made 35 appearances, netted five goals, and registered four assists for the Hammers, who finished 14th in the Premier League.

It is believed that Kudus has two release clauses – a £120m Saudi-specific release clause, and an £85m clause for Premier League clubs which is active this summer.

Chelsea are keen on bolstering their squad before the start of the Club World Cup and have already confirmed the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town for a £30m fee.

The 22-year-old has put pen to paper on a six-year contract at Stamford Bridge after the Blues triggered his release clause following Ipswich’s relegation from the Premier League.

“I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach,” said Delap.

“It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
