Arsenal eyeing Bayern Munich Leroy Sane as attacking reinforcement

Arsenal have reportedly expressed interest in signing Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane this summer, as the Gunners seek to bolster their attacking lineup. With Raheem Sterling’s loan expiring and uncertainty surrounding the futures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal are expected to pursue attacking reinforcements at the end of the season.

Sane, who previously played under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta during his time as Manchester City’s assistant, is in the final months of his contract with Bayern Munich. As it stands, the 29-year-old will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, making him an attractive option for Arsenal.

Bayern Munich have yet to engage in concrete talks with Sane over a contract extension, despite the club’s desire to keep him. Sane has expressed a desire to stay, but concerns over his reliability on the pitch have divided those making the decision. The winger has managed eight goals and four assists across all competitions this season, but consistency has been a problem, with Sane never scoring more than eight goals in a single Bundesliga season.

Bayern Munich are hoping to sell at least one winger this summer, but may be forced to accept Sane’s departure if other options do not present themselves. With Serge Gnabry resisting attempts to be sold and no offers yet arriving for Kingsley Coman, Sane’s expiring contract makes him a prime candidate for a summer exit.

Arsenal can make immediate contact with Sane over a free transfer and potentially wrap up a deal before Bayern Munich have the chance to react. With Athletic Club’s Nico Williams also reportedly on Arsenal’s radar, the Gunners are poised to make a significant splash in the summer transfer market.
