Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz’s price tag has been revealed as Bayern Munich and Manchester City prepare for a two-way bid in the summer.

The 21-year-old German midfielder has been at the centre of intense transfer speculation away from Leverkusen since last season, with a strong push over a mooted deal across Bayern not ruled out.

Wirtz’s contract expires in 2027, but last season’s Bundesliga champions are already preparing another contract for the attacking midfielder.

The new contract will reportedly include an exit clause, which will become active in the summer of 2026, but Wirtz has yet to sign on the dotted line.

Reports coming in from Germany indicate that Wirtz will be allowed to leave this summer if they receive an offer in the region of €120m, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The same reports also add that Bayern Munich have initiated initial talks with the player’s representatives, while Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has identified the 21-year-old as a top target.

Wirtz is currently nursing a ligament injury on his right ankle. This comes as a huge blow for Xabi Alonso’s side, who have fallen six points behind Bayern in the 2024-25 Bundesliga title race.

Leverkusen have been kicked out of this year’s Champions League in a 5-0 aggregate by Bayern to reach the quarter-finals.

But they have also reached the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal, where they are due to face Armenia on April 1.

Wirtz will be unavailable over the weekend in their crucial league tie against Bochum but could feature in their DFB Pokal last-four clash.
