Former Columbus Crew captain and star defender Jonathan Mensah has not ruled out a return to the Black Stars despite being inactive for three months.

Despite not featuring for the national team for almost three years, Mensah emphasized that he has not retired from international football.
“Oh no, I’m not saying we should call on Otto Addo, we should alert him, but I’m obviously not done playing,” he said exclusively on the FC Pitchside Podcast.
Mensah added, “I love that I’m seeing the young blood doing their things or helping the national team and moving in the right direction, honestly.”
“The African Cup qualification didn’t go as we wanted it to go, but as a fan watching, you know, if you’re not playing, even if you’re a current player playing well with your club, let’s say you get the call-up this time and then the next one you didn’t get a call-up, you’re a fan, you know, so that’s what I am now, and I love everything about the Black Stars, and it always gonna be that way, yeah, I’m always available like I said earlier.”
Mensah has had an illustrious career with the Black Stars, featuring in six AFCON tournaments and two senior World Cup tournaments.
He has won 70 caps with the Ghana Men’s National Team, including six appearances in FIFA World Cup play.
The defender has also had a successful club career, playing for top-tier teams in Ghana, South Africa, Italy, France, Russia, and Spain.
Mensah’s potential return to the Black Stars could be a significant boost for the team. His experience and leadership would be invaluable assets in the team’s quest for success.
With his passion for the national team and his desire to contribute to its success, Mensah could play a key role in helping Ghana achieve its goals in international football.
