Karim Zito prioritizes winning over Style

Karim Zito is not giving up on the Lesgue title with six games to go

Asante Kotoko’s interim coach, Karim Zito, has made it clear that winning is the team’s top priority at the moment, and he is not concerned about the style of play.

During his unveiling, Zito urged the club’s fanbase to focus on the results in the last six games, rather than the team’s playing style.

“We must be content with only winning,” Zito said. “All we’re after is to win, to see us back [on top]. It’s not about ‘fine, fine’ football now. It’s about who wins. And this is what we’re going to struggle to do.” Zito’s pragmatic approach is driven by the team’s current situation, where they sit fourth on the Premier League table, six points off the top spot, and are winless in their last four matches.

Zito takes charge of the team with the task of overturning Kotoko’s downturn in form until the end of the season.

With 18 points up for grabs in the remaining six matches, Zito is focused on tackling each game one by one. “[Operation] 18 points, and I like tackling match after match,” he said, highlighting his determination to lead the team to success.

Zito also revealed that joining Kotoko was not an easy decision, given the task at hand. “It was a very difficult decision,” he said. “Because for the first time I have been tasked to win the League, I have been saving clubs from the drop but this time I have to win the League. It’s not going to be easy.”

Despite the challenges, Zito is determined to lead the team to success.
