Pep Guardiola has left his thoughts on Liverpool winning the Premier League title this season, indicating that although he congratulates them for the win, next season is sure to be heated.

Guardiola led his side to a third straight FA Cup final after a 2-0 semi-final win over Nottingham Forest on Sunday and spoke to the press about what he thought about his chances of winning the competition as well as Liverpool’s title triumph.

The Spanish manager hailed Arne Slot’s resilience and hard work this season, congratulating Liverpool for the big win with four games to spare as the 2024/25 campaign nears its finale.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Liverpool winning the Premier League, Guardiola said: “Before I start, on behalf of myself and all the club, we want to congratulate Liverpool or their Premier League victory. It’s well deserved, no doubts about that.”

“They are a fantastic team. For one year, they’re going to retain the title and hopefully next season we can be better to compete until the end, which this season was not possible. So congratulations to Liverpool”, Pep added.

The Manchester City manager also shared a few thoughts on what went wrong for his team in the league this year and what must be done right to restore the Cityzens at the very top next year.

“We were always a machine and we have not been good this season, but the damage will be minor. It’s not going to confuse the fact that the season has not been good. The club has to make the right decisions so next season we will be better.”

Liverpool have got their second league title in five years and will be aiming to defend their trophy next year, knowing the likes of Guardiola’s City and Arsenal will do whatever it takes to clinch next season’s Premier League.
