Pedri says though he eyes the Ballon d’Or, he wants the titles first

“Its a dream to win the Ballon d’Or”- Pedri

Pedri Gonzalez on Barca Ballon d'Or

Pedri Gonzalez has revealed that although he is eyeing the prestigious golden ball award in the coming years, his focus is on winning titles with FC Barcelona first.

This year, the Spanish midfielder has proven to be one of Barca’s key players as the club continues its hunt for a third treble in history, which would include their first UEFA Champions League trophy since 2015.

Pedri this year has been on impeccable form and is now being tipped as one of the front runners for the 2025 Ballon d’Or in Paris, per reports.

The 22-year-old has weighed in on that conversation, insisting that Rodri has paved a way for midfielders in the years to come. Pedri says winning the award is a dream he holds, yet he would rather clinch many titles first before thinking too deep about that conversation and possibility.

“Since Rodri won the Ballon d’Or, it has become clear that a player who controls the midfield and dictates the tempo of the game can win this award. It has always been my dream to win the Ballon d’Or, but right now my focus is on team trophies”, he said.

Pedri Gonzalez is certainly amongst the front runners this year for the Ballon d’or after his consistent run of performances. Nonetheless, he’s going to have to be at his very best level in every department to clinch the titles he so desperately desires.
