‘It is hard to watch’ – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Man United struggles

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted he feels saddened by the club’s ongoing struggles since his departure.
Solskjaer, a United legend, departed from his managerial role in November 2021, nearly three years after taking charge.
Under his leadership, the Norwegian guided the Red Devils to a second-place finish in his final full season, a high point that now feels distant as the club have struggled to regain their form since his departure.
A great deal has happened at Old Trafford since Solskjaer’s exit. United won two trophies under Erik ten Hag, but the Dutchman was dismissed in October 2024.

Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim was appointed as his successor, yet the club’s misfortunes have continued in the Premier League.
In the 2024-25 season, the Red Devils have endured a difficult campaign, losing 15 out of their 34 matches so far, leaving them languishing in 15th place with just 39 points.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Solskjaer said: “Man United is my family and will always be part of me. In football, you don’t feel sorry for anyone because we are privileged, absolutely 100% privileged to be able to work in clubs like this.
“But for me, it is hard to watch because it is your family that is struggling. It is never easy at the weekend when you look at the table.”

Ruben Amorim’s side, currently winless in their last five Premier League matches, return to action on Sunday with a challenging away fixture against Brentford.
However, much of their focus will be on Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Club, as they look to defend a commanding 3-0 lead at Old Trafford.
