The Black Queens would be hoping to lift the WAFCON for the first time
Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren sets sights on WAFCON glory

Ahead of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren is ambitious about winning the ultimate prize.
The Swedish coach, who took charge of the team two months ago, has been assessing 31 players, including 24 from the Ghana Women’s Premier League, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

Bjorkegren replaced Nora Häuptle, who declined to renew her contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The new coach is determined to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor.
In an interview with 3Sports, Bjorkegren explained the purpose of his third training camp: “For me, to see all the players in Ghana is impossible.
“When I’m here, I may have the chance to watch one game at 3 pm. But if there are no more games later, I can’t see all the players.
“So this was a great chance for me to bring many players to get to know them on and off the pitch.”
The Black Queens are set to return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a five-year absence, marking a significant milestone for the team.
Their last appearance was a distant memory, but the Queens are determined to make a statement this time around.
Ghana’s best WAFCON performance came in 2006 when they finished runners-up to Nigeria, losing narrowly in the final. The Queens are determined to go one step further this year and claim the elusive title.
“We’re going to win the trophy and return to Ghana with gold medals,” Bjorkegren said confidently.
With three friendlies under his belt, including a win and two losses, Bjorkegren is preparing his team for the biggest stage in African women’s football.
The Black Queens will face tough competition in Group C against defending champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali. Despite the challenge, Bjorkegren is confident about going all the way and bringing the trophy home.
