Disgruntled Hearts fans storm club office to demand MD’s resignation

A group of Hearts of Oak supporters has staged a protest at the club’s commercial office in Accra, calling for the immediate resignation of Managing Director, Delali Anku-Adiamah.

The fans accuse the MD of incompetence and failing to deliver on his promises, including bringing in sponsors within three months of taking office.

The protesters claim that Anku-Adiamah has allowed Alhaji Akambi and Vincent Sowah Odotei to run the club without his input, leading to a lack of direction and poor decision-making.

They also raised concerns about the growing number of player injuries and the deteriorating state of the Pobiman Complex.

The fans’ discontent is evident in their placards, which bear inscriptions demanding Anku-Adiamah’s departure.

The leader of the group expressed frustration with the MD’s performance, stating, “Stay out of the club. We are tired of you. You as an MD, you don’t take care of the team well.”

Hearts of Oak are currently sixth on the Ghana Premier League standings with 46 points after 30 games, trailing league leaders Bibiani Goldstars by 8 points and five points behind fourth-placed team Asante Kotoko.

The team has already been eliminated from the FA Cup by Division One League club Golden Kicks FC.

The Phobians’ trophy drought has persisted since the departure of coach Samuel Boadu at the end of the 2020/21 season, further fueling the fans’ frustration.

With the possibility of ending the season without a trophy, the pressure is mounting on the club’s management to deliver results.

In the coming games, Hearts of Oak will face crucial matches to salvage their season.

The team will travel to Berekum Chelsea in matchday 31 before hosting Accra Lions in Accra.

The Phobians will then face Legon Cities in their penultimate game before hosting Samartex in the final game of the season.
