Marseille forward Mason Greenwood attracts Premier League interest

Marseille forward Mason Greenwood is reportedly attracting loads of interest from several Premier League clubs as they weigh up a move for the former Manchester United star in the summer.

Reports say Greenwood is attracting interest from at least two Premier League sides, but ‘huge roadblocks’ stand in the way of a return to English football.

According to The Telegraph, two unnamed Premier League sides are preparing to approach Greenwood, who is said to favour a move back home due to his nostalgic feelings in the French Ligue 1.

However, rumours insist there can be “no going back” for the ex-Manchester United winger following the rape charges that were made against him and subsequently dropped in 2023.

Greenwood is said to be longing for a return to his native north of England, despite starring for Marseille this season.

However, his past may deny him a Premier League return to that part of the world difficult. The report adds that his initial private stance about not wanting to take a step down from United will be tested.

Despite his position on a potential return to England, his close friends hold a different view about whether he feels ready to go back to the Premier League.

The Telegraph adds that there is no chance of him adding to his only one England appearance, with the 23-year-old still attempting to switch allegiance to Steve McClaren’s Jamaica.

Before Greenwood can think about a Premier League return, his Marseille side round off their season at home to Rennes in Ligue 1, with their place in next season’s Champions League already secured in a 3-1 away win against Le Havre over the weekend.
