The 25-year-old has one year left on his Brentford contract

Manchester United have made an initial contact with Brentford over a potential summer move for Bryan Mbeumo, according to Sky Sports News.

Newcastle United have expressed a strong interest in the French-born Cameroon international, while Liverpool have previously been linked with the forward in earlier transfer windows.

The 25-year-old has one year left on his Brentford contract, though the club have the option to extend by a further year.

Brentford are under no pressure to sell Mbeumo alongside Yoane Wissa this summer, however, they will listen to offers for the duo.

United are expected to be active in the market, with Ruben Amorim seeking to reshape his team ahead of his first full pre-season and full campaign at Old Trafford.

He had acknowledged that it was a risk to allow Marcus Rashford and Antony to leave in the January window, but their departures were seen as beneficial for the team’s long-term future.

The Red Devils have secured their first signing of the summer following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mbeumo was signed from Troyes in 2019 for around £5.8million.

Since then, he has emerged as one of Brentford’s most astute signings, helping the club earn promotion from the Championship and firmly establishing himself in the Premier League.

He made 42 appearances, scored 20 goals, and provided nine assists across all competitions for Thomas Frank’s side last season.
