Bayer Leverkusen turn down Liverpool’s £113m bid for Florian Wirtz

Expectations remain that Wirtz will complete a record-breaking move to Anfield

Liverpool’s new bid worth a total of £113m for Germany international Florian Wirtz has been rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, according to The Times.

The report claims that talks are still ongoing between both clubs, and expectations remain that Wirtz will complete a record-breaking move to Anfield in the coming days.

It is believed that Leverkusen want to maximise the financial package for the 22-year-old and that they expect another offer from the Reds to be forthcoming.

After five years at Leverkusen, where he played a vital role in their Bundesliga campaign during the 2023/24 season, the Germany international is eager for a new challenge.

Bayern Munich had pursued the midfielder for nearly two years and were confident he preferred a move to Munich.

Florian Wirtz could follow his former Leverkusen team-mate Jeremie Frimpong to Anfield, following the Netherlands international’s £29.5m move.

Liverpool are also keen on signing Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
