Barcelona set strict €60m spending limit to sign Luis Diaz

Barcelona remain optimistic about signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer

Barcelona are poised to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz as part of their plans to bolster the squad this summer, but they have reportedly set a €60 million limit for the player.

According to journalist Jose Alvarez Haya, Barcelona remain resolute in their pursuit of the Liverpool winger but have set a strict spending limit of €60 million for the 28-year-old.

The Colombian international has been on the radar of the La Liga winners for some time now, but could face setbacks due to their own tight financial rules.

Despite Liverpool’s reluctance to sell, the Catalan club are positive of reaching an agreement with the Premier League champions as the summer progresses.

Hansi Flick’s side prefers to work within a “measured window”, concerning time and finances, and are unwilling to go overboard to sign Diaz.

Barcelona are relying on the Reds’ early spree in the transfer window by sticking to a €60 million mark with the hope that the English side may decide to revamp in that area of the field.

Earlier this month, Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s attempt to sign Luis Diaz in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic

Despite Barca’s efforts to make an official bid, the player has hinted at a potential move to the Spanish giants, although he has not ruled out a contract renewal with Liverpool either.

Barcelona’s optimism is also driven by Liverpool’s potential interest in signing Bayer Leverkusen attacker Florian Wirtz, who could cost between €130–150 million.

The Merseyside Reds are in the final stage to confirm the German’s arrival, and once that is done, they may need to offload players like Diaz to balance the books.

Diaz’s contract at Anfield runs until 2027, but his future is still clouded with uncertainty.

As the transfer window continues to unfold, Barcelona are preparing to push further, but within a strict financial plan. The Blaugrana are determined to stick to their budget and will not overpay, even for their top target.
