The 20-year-old will put pen to paper on a six-year deal

Tottenham have completed the signing of Mathys Tel on a permanent deal from Bayern Munich.

The 20-year-old will put pen to paper on a six-year deal after Spurs agreed to pay a fee of about £30m.

Tel joined Thomas Frank’s side on loan during the January transfer window with an option to buy him for £45m, but they successfully negotiated the fee down.

The French forward racked up 20 appearances and netted three times. He was an unused substitute for their victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final.

He is currently part of the France squad at the European Under-21 Championship.

A club statement read: “We are delighted to announce the permanent signing of Mathys Tel from FC Bayern.

“Mathys joined the Club from the Bundesliga side in February on loan until the end of the season with an option to make the move permanent.

“We can confirm we have agreed a deal with Bayern that will see the France Under-21 international sign a contract that will run until 2031 when his current loan deal ends on 30 June.”

Tottenham have, meanwhile, entered the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford after holding initial discussions with the Bees regarding a possible summer move for the forward.

The 25-year-old has one year left on his Brentford contract, though the club have the option to extend by a further year.

Brentford are under no pressure to sell Mbeumo alongside Yoane Wissa this summer, however, they will listen to offers for the duo.
