Myles Lewis-Skelly agrees new-long term Arsenal contract

The 18-year-old’s contract was due to expire in 2026

Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly has agreed to stay at the Premier League club, according to BBC Sport.

The 18-year-old’s contract was due to expire in 2026 and has been in negotiations with the Gunners over recent months.

He will put pen to paper on a long-term deal. Lewis-Skelly had a breakthrough season at Emirates Stadium last term, racking up 39 appearances across all competitions.

The England international made his debut against Manchester City in September last year and was mainly used at left-back by Mikel Arteta, despite being a midfielder who emerged through Arsenal’s academy.

He was handed his first England call-up by Thomas Tuchel and was on target in the 2-0 win against Albania at Wembley, becoming the youngest player in history to score on their full Three Lions debut.

Lewis-Skelly’s impressive displays during the 2024/25 season have seen him being shortlisted for the PFA Young Player of the Year award, alongside Morgan Rogers, Liam Delap, Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez and Ethan Nwaneri.

Mikel Arteta earlier revealed that Lewis-Skelly’s future at Arsenal could be in midfield.

Arteta said: “He is very intelligent, very willing and very physical. If you have those three ingredients and you have a personality that can go through blips — it can happen — that is Myles. That is what he has done.

“He can do as a 6 and an an 8. It will depend a lot on the relationships and the chemistry with other players, how this evolves within the team.

“And football, which direction it goes , what demands of certain positions as well. He is certainly a player that can play a in lots of positions.”
