Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi favours move to Liverpool

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi has reportedly turned down a potential switch to join Arsenal this summer, but rather favours a move to Premier League champions Liverpool.

Guehi has been linked with a move away from the Eagles following an overwhelming performance in the Premier League last season for Palace under manager Oliver Glasner.

Guehi is ready to turn down Premier League title rivals in favour of an Anfield switch, but issues one major demand to Reds manager Arne Slot.

According to The Sun, Guehi is prepared to turn down Arsenal this summer, and that has put Liverpool on high alert.

The report adds that the England defender is seeking assurances that he will get regular first-team football; however, that cannot be guaranteed at Arsenal, where centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes are the first choice.

His demands, if provided, may convince the 24-year-old to head to Anfield next season.

Former Chelsea defender Guehi has developed a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top defenders, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and several clubs now ready to make a big-money move for his signature.

With the Reds on the verge of closing a deal for Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen, Slot’s side are looking for a new centre-back to compete with Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk – whether Guehi is that man remains to be seen.

The Sun further reports that Guehi, whose contract runs until 2026 at Selhurst Park, does not fancy staying on the bench ahead of next year’s World Cup, and that could play a big part in his next move this summer.

England international Guehi is currently set to report for Palace’s pre-season training next month but faces uncertainties about whether or not he will still be at Palace, with whom he won the FA Cup for the first time last month, once the 2025/26 campaign starts.
