Manchester United are believed to have presented an improved bid of £60 million to sign Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer as they look to revamp their attacking department.

United, who had initially made a £55 million bid that was turned down by Brentford, have now returned with an improved bid of £60 million, with the hope of persuading the Bees to sell one of their best attackers from last season.

The Red Devils have admired Mbeumo for some time and feel he would fit Ruben Amorim’s system perfectly, and the 27-year-old is keen on a move to Old Trafford, but Brentford are in no rush to sell their prized asset.

The French-born Cameroonian has two years left on his contract, and Brentford value the pacey and tricky winger more than £60 million at the moment.

He scored 20 goals and seven assists in the Premier League last season to help Brentford secure a top-half finish – only three players scored more.

Earlier in June, reports revealed that Tottenham Hotspur had launched a £70 million bid to sign the attacker, a few days after former boss Thomas Frank was appointed as Spurs manager.

Meanwhile, Amorim’s side have already completed a deal to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves for £62.5m.

Amorim is on a mission to change the fortunes of the club by securing more firepower, after administering United’s worst-ever Premier League campaign in over 30 years – only managing to stay 15th on the league standings last season.

The club’s recognised forwards, Joshua Zirkzee (3) and Rasmus Hojlund (4), have also not helped matters – recording only seven league goals between them last season.

This has raised eyebrows, calling for the club to seek reinforcement in the attacking areas next summer.
