Barcelona are said to be exploring the potential of a loan move for Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford, according to talkSPORT.

Barcelona, who have reportedly secured an agreement with Athletic Club winger Nico Williams on a six-year deal, are keen on adding more attacking threat to their squad, and Rashford is being discussed once again.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is an admirer of the Englishman’s versatility and views him as a good addition to his already strong side this summer.

The 27-year-old is one of the highest-paid players at Man United, earning £350,000/week, but has been deemed surplus to requirements under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Earlier in June, the English international was linked with a move to the La Liga champions, as the Catalan club looks to reinforce their squad ahead of yet another busy campaign, which they intend to defend their domestic treble following a stellar showing in the 2024/25 season.

Rashford’s reported £40 million pricetag may not be an issue even with Barca’s financial issues, but wages may be the defining factor – a reason the Red Devils would want to offload him permanently; however, those chances are slim.

Marcus Rashford’s long-term future is still uncertain

Meanwhile, United’s new signing Matheus Cunha, who has joined from Wolves for £65.2 million, has already been promised Rashford’s no.10 shirt, as if to say, “you’re already out”.

Rashford spent the second half of the season on loan with Aston Villa and impressed with four goals and six assists in 17 appearances.

Despite Villa being presented with the opportunity to sign him for £40 million, the player sees Barcelona as his “dream move.”

Rashford has made 426 appearances for United since his debut in 2016, scoring 138 goals and providing 79 assists in the process.

He is a two-time FA Cup and two-time Carabao Cup winner with his boyhood club. He has also lifted the Europa League and Community Shield.

Rashford last featured for United in their 2-1 Europa League win against FC Viktoria Plzen in December.

He is likely to leave the club this summer, but his future remains unclear, with the player confirming his desire to play be Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal this summer.
