Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey leaves Arsenal on free transfer

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has left Arsenal on a free transfer after his contract expired today, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed.
The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to several clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Juventus. Saudi Pro League clubs are also interested in acquiring the services of Partey.
The Gunners announced the list of players they are releasing later this month, and they also disclosed that they are still in negotiations with Partey, but an agreement could not be reached.

Romano posed on X: “Thomas Partey leaves Arsenal today as planned since 10 days ago.
“His contract expires, Thomas will leave as free agent… and Christian Nørgaard will join the Gunners from Brentford.”
Partey had his best season since joining the Gunners from Atletico Madrid in 2020 for over £40million last term, making 52 appearances, scoring four goals and providing three assists across all competitions.

He played a pivotal role in Arsenal’s successful Champions League quarter-final victories over Real Madrid.
Arsenal’s new sporting director, Andrea Berta, was tasked with overseeing the contract negotiations.
Manager Mikel Arteta earlier hinted that he would be open to Partey remaining at the club.
When asked about progress on a new contract for Partey, Arteta responded: “Yes, there is progress with all the players. I’ll leave that to Andrea and the club to decide and to talk about.”
When pressed if Arsenal’s intention is to keep Partey, Arteta added: “The intention is very clear.”
Arsenal are closing in on signing Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard, while a formal announcement on Martin Zubimendi’s move from Real Sociedad could come this week.
