Newcastle saw an offer worth £70m rejected by Frankfurt for the Frenchman
Hugo Ekitike completes Liverpool medical ahead of move from Frankfurt

Liverpool are close to completing a deal to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, with the player completing his medical, according to transfer expert Ben Jacobs.
The Reds reached an agreement with Frankfurt to sign the Frenchman in a deal worth £69m.
The Bundesliga accepted a deal worth £79m, with £69m guaranteed and £10m in add-ons.

Newcastle saw an offer worth £70m rejected by Frankfurt for the Frenchman.
The 23-year-old netted 15 goals in 31 starts as Frankfurt finished third in the Bundesliga last term and secured Champions League qualification.
However, Ekitike is a provider as well as a scorer, as he registered eight assists for Frankfurt.
Liverpool have also shown a major interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, but the Magpies are not willing to sell the Sweden international at any price this summer.

Frankfurt head coach Dino Toppmoller earlier described Ekitike’s impending transfer to Liverpool as a “bitter loss”.
“He didn’t play, but you can imagine everything else,” said Toppmoller via Sky Sports Germany.
“This is a bitter loss.
“We lost our absolute top player in the winter with Omar Marmoush.
“The other player stepped in and developed sensationally. It’s quite possible that that’s history, too.
“So I think we need to temper expectations a bit overall.”
Elsewhere, Liverpool have turned down Bayern Munich’s offer for winger Luis Diaz.
The Reds are not willing to part ways with Diaz, who is also attracting interest from Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr this summer. Liverpool executives view Diaz as pivotal for the coming seasons.
Liverpool have already rejected Barcelona’s attempt to sign Diaz this summer. The South American is currently not for sale.
Diaz played an instrumental role for Arne Slot’s side as they secured a record-equalling 20th league title.
The Colombia international racked up 50 appearances, scored 17 goals, and provided eight assists last season, featuring in an unfamiliar No.9 position.
