GFA appoints Kassim Mingle as new Black Galaxies head coach

Mingle replaces Didi Dramani who joined Hearts of Oak in June

The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the appointment of Kassim Ocansey Mingle as the new head coach of the Black Galaxies, Ghana’s CHAN team.

Mingle, who currently manages Premier League side Nations FC, is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s most innovative tacticians.

He previously transformed Bechem United before joining Nations FC, where he narrowly missed out on the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League title to Bibiani Goldstars.

He will be assisted by a strong technical team led by Samuel Boadu, head coach of Berekum Chelsea and the man who famously guided Hearts of Oak to the league and FA Cup double in 2021. Former Ghana U20 captain and coach of Attram Di Visser, Godwin Attram, has also been named as assistant coach, while former Black Stars goalkeeper Stephen Ahorlu will serve as the goalkeepers’ coach.

The backroom staff includes Henry Martey, who returns as Welfare Officer, with Justice Kofi Mensah and Francis Ofori appointed kit managers. The medical and support team will be spearheaded by physiotherapist Gilbert Yankson, video analyst Abass Adjei-Grant, team doctor Dr. Abena Tannor, and masseur Prince Charles Anokye.

Dr. Tannor, a specialist in Family Medicine and Sports, Exercise and Rehabilitation Medicine, is also Chairperson of the GFA Medical Committee and a respected faculty member at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.

The appointment of this experienced technical and support team underscores the GFA’s determination to build a competitive Black Galaxies squad capable of excelling at the next CHAN tournament and restoring Ghana’s dominance in African football.

Meanwhile, Coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has been excused from his duties with the team following his recent appointment as head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak.
