The Black Starlets were unable to maintain their lead after Joseph Narbi’s goal.

The Ghana U-17 men’s national team started their WAFU Zone B Championship with a 1-1 draw against Togo in an exciting match at the Stade Charles Konan Banny earlier today.

Head Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum named a strong starting XI led by skipper Joseph Narbi leading the team.

The Black Starlets were dealt an early setback when Gabriel Denyinah received a red card in the 3rd minute, but they showed resilience and composure.

Just six minutes later, captain Joseph Narbi fired Ghana into the lead with a brilliant finish, a strike that separated the two sides at halftime.

After the break, both teams resumed with intensity, producing entertaining football. The Togolese, however, leveled the score in the 65th minute from the penalty spot.

Despite playing with 10 men, Ghana dominated large portions of the game and created several openings but failed to capitalize due to misplaced final passes.

The Black Starlets will face tournament hosts Côte d’Ivoire in their second group game on Tuesday, September 23, at the same venue.
