Bibiani Goldstars sack head coach Frimpong Manso after CAF Champions League defeat

Manso will not be present in the dugout when the two teams face each other in Tizi Ouzou.

Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Goldstars have mutually agreed to part ways with head coach Frimpong Manso, footicenter.com reports.

The decision was made two days after their 2-0 defeat to Algerian giants JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League at the Accra Sports Stadium.

According to reports, management was unhappy with some of Manso’s tactical decisions during the game particularly his choice to bench experienced players such as Atinga and Appiah McCarthy which played a major role in the decision to part ways with him.

Manso, a former Asante Kotoko defender, took charge of Goldstars two seasons ago and guided the team to a historic maiden league title last season.

He began the current campaign on a bright note with a 2-1 win over Bechem United on Matchday 1, but the setback against Kabylie has left the club with a mountain to climb in the return leg in Algeria this weekend.

The decision takes immediate effect, with assistant coach Nana Yaw Amankwah is expected to lead the team for the crucial second leg in Algeria.
