Salah set to feature against Brighton

Mohammed Salah is set to be included in the Liverpool squad to face Brighton in the weekend Premier League fixture, following crunch talks with head coach Arne Slot on Friday.

Liverpool boss, Slot, left Salah out of the squad that beat Inter Milan in midweek’s Champions League encounter following the Egypt international’s explosive media interview last weekend.

Arne Slot was set for crunch talks with Salah over his Liverpool future on Friday morning, with the club superstar, who has been a subject of intense rift for his outspoken words in an interview regarding limited playing time, raising concerns about his immediate future at the club.

The Egyptian international has not started any of Liverpool’s last four games and was an unused substitute against Leeds last weekend, claiming in a “say it all” interview that he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club and said his relationship with Slot had become non-existent.

In a game that ended 3-3 draw against Leeds United, the 33-year-old remained an unused sub, fueling speculation of an early exit from Anfield, with Saudi Arabian clubs still lingering.

Talks with Salah were scheduled on Friday, with “the outcome of which will determine” his integration into the squad against Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday before leaving for AFCON.

The club and the manager initially decided to exclude him from the travelling squad, which won 1-0 at Inter Milan on Tuesday in the Champions League, but Salah posted a photograph on Instagram of himself training alone at the training ground gym on the same day.

According to The Telegraph, Salah will be reintegrated into Slot’s matchday squad after confirming that the player and Slot held peace talks at the club’s training ground.

Salah isexpected to feature for the reigning Premier League champions against Brighton, offering the final opportunity for Slot to select Salah before the attacker jets off to the Africa Cup of Nations with Egypt.

Salah helped Liverpool win the Premier League title last season in Slot’s debut season as head coach.

However, the Reds have significantly struggled this season and have fallen to 10th in the top-flight table after their opening 15 games.

Salah has recorded a total of 420 appearances for Liverpool to date, registering 250 goals and 116 assists.

During his nine-season stay at Anfield, marked with unmatched consistency, he has helped Liverpool win two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, the Club World Cup, the Super Cup and the Community Shield since joining the club from Roma in 2017.
