Andy Roberton to leave Anfield at the end of the season

Liverpool star Andy Robertson has been confirmed to leave the club at the end of the season, after a nine-year stint at the club.

Roberton rejected serious approaches from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, in an attempt to stay at Liverpool, and to continue to complete his trade in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old fell below the pecking order after manager Arne Slot’s first season, prompting Liverpool to sign Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth in the summer window for £40 million.

The Scottish international will join Liverpool talisman Mohammed Salah as two senior players to announce their departure from Anfield at the end of the season.

Salah was the first to call a time-out on his illustrious career at the Merseyside club, with an emotional video last month.

Robertson’s role in the Reds’ successes in recent seasons has been significant, with the club confirming that the Scottish captain will leave Merseyside as ‘a legend’, having already made 373 appearances for Liverpool.

A statement issued by Liverpool on Thursday read.

“After nine hugely successful campaigns at Anfield, the Scotland captain will leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

“He will do so as a genuine Liverpool legend, having played a fundamental role in the successes of recent years over the course of his 373 appearances to date.

“Signed from Hull City in 2017, Robertson has won two Premier League titles, a Champions League, the FA Cup and two League Cups, as well as the FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup and Community Shield.

“However, celebration of Robertson’s Liverpool legacy is firmly on hold until the conclusion of the campaign, with the No.26 fully focused on helping the Reds end 2025-26 as successfully as possible.”
