Medeama thrash Kotoko 4-0 to reclaim top spot

Medeama returned to the summit of the Ghana Premier League with a commanding 4-0 victory over Asante Kotoko at the TNA Park.
A brilliant first-half performance from the Mauve and Yellows set the tone, as they stormed into the lead and ultimately climbed back to the top of the standings.

Following their draw at Bechem, Medeama’s coach made just one change to the side, with Mubarik Yussif replacing Sackey.
Asante Kotoko, meanwhile, came into the game on the back of a home defeat to Samartex.
Coach Prince Owusu responded by making four changes, handing starts to Morifing Donzo, Lawson Manu, Joseph Amoah, and Henry Ansu.
Medeama began the game brightly, dominating possession and consistently troubling the visitors’ defence.
Their early pressure paid off when Manuel Mantey opened the scoring with a composed finish inside the penalty box.
Moments later, Kelvin Obeng doubled the lead, rising high to head home a well-delivered free kick from Manuel Mantey.
The hosts maintained their intensity, leaving Kotoko struggling to settle into the game. Medeama’s dominance was further rewarded when Salim Adams made it 3-0, calmly tapping in a pass from Obeng.
Kotoko’s best chance of the first half fell to Dogo Yakubu, but his long-range effort was well saved by goalkeeper Felix Kyei.
After the break, Medeama picked up right where they left off, adding a fourth goal through Salim Adams, who grabbed his second of the game after being set up brilliantly by Abdul Salam.
With a comfortable lead secured, Medeama eased their tempo, while Kotoko searched for a consolation. Youngster Lawson Manu came close, but his effort drifted wide.
Despite a few late attempts from the hosts to extend their advantage, Kotoko’s defence held firm to prevent further damage.
The result leaves Kotoko winless in their last three matches, with two defeats and a draw. Meanwhile, Medeama return to the top of the table with a two-point lead following Bibiani Goldstars’ defeat to Aduana Stars.
