AC Milan target Dusan Vlahovic and Mateo Retegui over a summer move

Massimiliano Allegri’s AC Milan are looking to revamp their squad with another striker in Vlahovic or Retegui

Allegri back with AC Milan

AC Milan have targeted Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and Atalanta’s Serie A top goal scorer, Mateo Retegui, over a summer move as they search for a quality striker to compete with Santiago Gimenez.

Milan are eyeing Serie A top scorer Retegui and Juventus star Vlahovic, as new coach Max Allegri demands reshuffling in his squad for the new season, as reported by Sky in Italy.

This has become necessary, with Tammy Abraham set to return to his parent club Roma, while Luka Jovic’s contract expires, Milan are left with only one fit striker in Mexican Santiago Gimenez.

Allegri, however, will be looking for a replacement for Tijjani Reijnders, following the Dutchman’s move to Premier League giants Manchester City, and has identified Parma midfielder Simon Sohm as the ideal candidate.

Allegri guided Milan to their 18th Scudetto in the 2010-11 season, and had a squad that included legends such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, and Robinho. Milan won the next Scudetto in the 2021/22 season – 11 years later.

The 57-year-old managed Juventus for a total of eight years across two spells. The first stint was from 2014 to 2019, and he returned for a second spell in 2021, concluding in May 2024.

Vlahovic for Juventus

Between 2014 and 2019, Allegri was in charge of Juventus, he won eleven trophies: five consecutive league titles (from 2015 to 2019), four Coppa Italia titles in a row (from 2015 to 2018) and two Supercoppa Italiana titles (2015 and 2018); he also reached two UEFA Champions League finals (2015 and 2017).

Allegri was appointed as the new head coach last week, a day after sacking Sergio Conceicao, with the Italian tasked with transforming the struggling club into title contenders again in his second stint.

With Reijnders having joined City, Yunus Musah being linked with a move away to Serie A champions Napoli, and Theo Hernandez on the fringes, Milan will be looking to rebuild their squad with fresh legs and energy.

In the 2024-25 season, Mateo Retegui scored 25 goals and assisted 8 times in Serie A.

If Milan are able to get a deal over the line for either Vlahovic or Retegui, it would add the much-needed firepower to the squad, helping them to improve on their eighth-place finish.
