Alvaro Morata teams Atletico Madrid

Alvaro Morata has revealed he regrets his decision to leave Atletico Madrid two years ago, indicating his choice as wrong after being advised by Diego Simeone and his family to stay at the club.

Morata continued his relentless run of switching clubs and landed at Milan in the 2023/24 season before joining Galatasaray last summer.

Now, the former Spain captain has revealed he made the wrong choice of leaving Atletico, insisting he should have ‘thought things through’ properly.

“If I could go back in time, I would NOT leave Atlético Madrid. In the summer, I should have thought things through more, but now there’s no point in changing it. This whole issue was bothering me during the EURO”.

“I needed to feel valued and loved, and El Cholo Simeone really wanted me. My father and my agent told me that I was making a mistake”, he told El Laguero.

This season at Galatasaray, Alvaro Morata has only featured in four league games, scoring twice and assisting one as he career nears the final stages and it appears his decision to leave Atletico is one that will stay with his forever.
