Ruben Amorim has revealed Joshua Zirkzee is ruled out for the next few games after suffering a muscle injury in Manchester United’s 4-1 defeat to Newcastle.

In the past five matches, Zirkzee looked promising in attack for United, combining with the likes of Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes to create chances for his side.

However, it appears his season is now all but over after being subbed off in United distasteful loss to the Magpies on Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to the press after the game, Amorim confirmed Zirkzee will be out for the next few matches, insisting that the Dutchman’s injury does not look too good to help the team moving forward.

“Zirkzee’s injury does not look too good. We will await tests, but Zirkzee vs Lyon does not look too good. It is over”, he said.

United now find themselves in a difficult place under Amorim, who has secured only six wins in his last 21 games with the club. The next run of matches as well do not appear any easier as the Reds host Lyon in midweek before facing Wolves and Bournemouth next in the Premier League.
