Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has lauded young defender Leny Yoro after his impressive performance in the Red Devils’ 2–2 draw against Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

The 19-year-old scored in the 50th minute to bring United level at 1–1 right before the end of the first half, and that brought a sense of belief to the Reds.

Yoro’s goal was crucial for United, who would go on to lead for the first time on the night in the second half with five minutes to spare before Andre Onana dropped his second howler of the day.

Speaking to the press after the game, Amorim expressed his admiration for the youngster, saying: “Leny Yoro… a top, top, top player. Trust me, he’s really good. He’s really confident. He’s improving his physicality. We are seeing all the work that all the staff are doing with him. He feels at home in our club.”

Leny Yoro was brought in last summer to improve United in defence, yet suffered a foot injury that saw him sidelined for four months.
