Arsenal eye Eintracht Frankfurt striker as potential summer target

Mikel Arteta wants to sign a striker to lead Arsenal as they charge for the Premier league next season

Arsenal, according to reports from Germany have eyed Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike as potential summer target as revealed by Journalist, David Ornstein.

The French forward is believed to be among multiple names on Mikel Arteta’s list to bolster their frontline next season, although Arsenal have yet to make any concrete moves regarding his arrival at the Emirates.

The Gunners are seen as “secret” admirers of Ekitike as well as other forwards, including Newcastle United star Alexander Isak and RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko.

Arsenal have struggled to make an impact in front of goal after been hit hard by striker injuries to both Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, leaving the two sidelined long-term and expected to miss the rest of the campaign.

Ornstein, writing for The Athletic, revealed that Ekitike is among the players Arsenal admire, although there is no sign of a move for the Frenchman progressing yet.

“Multiple names will be in the frame… we also hear there’s admiration for Ekitike, for example, and that’s natural; who wouldn’t like him?

“It doesn’t mean there is a clear direction of travel yet. We’ll try to keep you across the situation as it evolves.”

Ekitike, taunted as a ‘mix of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe’, has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Frankfurt since his move to the Bundesliga.

The 22-year-old first joined the German club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2024, before making the move permanent in April of the same year for a fee of €16.5m.

The former PSG forward is believed to have several suitors across the Premier League, with reports claiming the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa all hold an interest in the striker.

The French forward signed a five-year deal upon his arrival from PSG and is reportedly available for €100m in the summer.

Ekitike has scored 15 goals, providing five assists in 28 Bundesliga appearances, along with seven further goal involvements in the Europa League in the 2024/25 season.
