Karim Zito has won two out of three games at the club since taking over last month
Asante Kotoko reveal Karim Zito is ‘under consideration’ for permanent manager’s job

Interim head coach Karim Zito has emerged as a leading candidate for the permanent Asante Kotoko position after his appointment in late April, following the dismissal of Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum.
Zito, a veteran Ghanaian coach with vast experience at both club and national levels, was brought in to stabilize the team and lead them through the remainder of the season.

He was initially expected to return to his position as Technical Director once the campaign concludes. However, the door now appears open for him to be considered for the top job permanently.
Speaking on Akoma 87.9 FM, Kotoko spokesperson Sarfo Duku addressed swirling rumors about the club’s future coaching direction.
“We have not considered employing a substantive head coach,” Duku said. “We are startled by the names being circulated in the media, as we have not had any discussions with any coaches.”
He clarified that while no decisions have been made, Zito remains a viable option moving forward.
“In football, anything is possible. Karim Zito could take over as head coach, or a new coach could be chosen,” he added. “But this would only happen after the season and after multiple talks with the coaches and essential stakeholders.”
Zito’s presence has brought a sense of calm to the technical bench during a critical phase of the campaign. With Kotoko still chasing a domestic double, his future could be tied closely to how the team finishes the season.
Duku emphasized that the club’s focus remains solely on achieving success on the pitch.
“Our goal of winning the double remains intact, and that is our primary focus right now,” he stressed.
The club is expected to take decision at the end of the season to determine the next steps regarding the coaching role.
Two former coaches of the club, C.K. Akonnor and Maxwell Konadu, along with Samuel Boadu, have been strongly linked to the job.
