Ashanti Regional Division Two League: Final day drama awaits

Some teams have already secured their qualifications, while others are hoping to clinch their slot

The Ashanti Regional Division Two League is set to come to an end this weekend, with several clubs battling for a spot in the middle league.

Some teams have already secured their qualifications, while others are hoping to clinch their slot on the final day.

In Zone 1, Adom FC’s victory over Bafag Rainbow last week confirmed their place in the middle league with a game to spare.

The win extended their gap at the top to five points, making their final game against Natcosta a mere formality. However, Natcosta will be hoping for a positive result to avoid relegation.

At the bottom of Zone 1, Kumasi Holy Stars will face Bafag Rainbow in a game that could seal their fate and see them relegated to the fourth tier league.

In Zone 2, runaway leaders Midcity have secured their consecutive middle league slot with an eight-point gap over Mahala Academy.

The Suame-based club will face Step FC in their last game of the season. Bantama Lions, meanwhile, are languishing at the bottom with just five points after 15 games and will be relegated regardless of the result in their final game against Kumasi AIK.

Zone 3 is where the action is, with three teams – Sasaamo Panin, Fast Track, and Namoro Academy – fighting for a single middle league slot.

Sasaamo Panin currently leads the pack with 37 points, closely followed by Fast Track and Namoro Academy with 34 points each. The league leaders will face second-placed Fast Track, while Namoro Academy takes on SK Fresh.

A draw will be enough to see Sasaamo Panin through, but a defeat could see either Namoro or Fast Track leapfrog them for the slot.

In Zone 4, Acceler8z will need to win their last game to confirm their first-ever qualification to the middle league.

The Adukrom-based side currently leads the zone with 31 points, closely followed by First Klass with 29 points.

Ebony has already won Zone 5 with 44 points, securing their eighth consecutive middle league appearance. Mighty Academy came second with 33 points.

Pro Sports defied odds to win Zone 6 with just a point, finishing ahead of favorites Jachie United. This will be the first time in four years that Jachie United will not be appearing in the middle league.

Benab will be making their fifth consecutive middle league appearance after winning Zone 7 with a whopping 47 points. Second-placed Jonnboe also qualified for the middle league due to the number of teams in Zone 7.

ALREADY QUALIFIED TEAMS

Adom FC, Ebony, Midcity FC, Benab FC, Pro Sports, and Jonnboe FC.
