Aston Villa are expected to sign Barcelona’s Andreas Christensen and Marc Casado

Aston Villa are poised to sign Barcelona duo Andreas Christensen and Marc Casado ahead of the summer transfer window, per reports coming in from Spain.

Villa have enjoyed their football in the 2024/25 campaign since the arrival of Unai Emery as manager.

The Spaniard has taken Villa from battling relegation, first to the Conference League, before guiding them to the Champions League for the first time in four decades.

Villa remains in the elite competition, despite losing 3-1 against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the quarter-final in the week.

Regardless of the outcome, The Claret and Blue have enjoyed a phenomenal campaign, one that has seen them make a push for European qualification in the Premier League once more.

It comes as no surprise, as The Villians will look to bolters their squad with some quality in the coming summer transfer window.

Reports, according to Fichajes, have indicated that there are two names that the club will be looking at -Marc Casado and Andreas Christensen are two players that Villa would be keen on acquiring.

With Barcelona’s financial situation in recent years, the Catalan giants may be open to negotiating the potential sale of two players that are not entirely part of the starting X on the team sheet.

Christensen, who is on around £150,000 per week in wages according to Capology, has been out of the team with an injury ruling him out of the season, making it hard to see where he breaks back into the Barca first team on his eturn.

The Catalan side have several centre-backs who have proven themselves reliable enough in his absence – be it Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo , or Inigo Martinez,

In the Dane’s situation, it looks likely he may be allowed to depart the club in the summer, especially when his contract is set to expire in 2026.

Casado, meanwhile, has enjoyed a breakout season, becoming an established part of the squad for the first time since his senior debut in 2022.

The young midfielder has made over 20 La Liga appearances for Barca as they push for the league title.

Both Christensen and Casado would be a good addition to Unai Emery’s side for next season’s campaign as they continue to push for European football.

Sporting director Monchi has reportedly started working on the deals, and should both clubs finally agree on a fee for the players involved, it will be a massive coup for Villa.
