Kellerher for Liverpool

Aston Villa are reportedly weighing up a move for Premier League winners, Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, who is expected to leave Anfield after the campaign.

According to Football Insider, the goalkeeper will be allowed to leave in the summer, prompting the attention of Unai Emery’s side to make a move.

The Villans are on the verge of securing a third consecutive qualification to European football since the arrival of Emery in 2022, after the sacking of English manager Steven Gerrard.

It marks a plethora of successes under the Spanish boss for the club, having overseen a significant transformation at Villa Park.

The Claret and Blue will be pushing strongly to qualify for the Champions League once again if they win their final Premier League match and other results go their way – a competition they managed to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in four decades.

Regardless of what competition they qualify for, it will be recorded as yet another brilliant season for the Midlands side.

Villa, however, will be looking to make additions to their squad as the summer transfer window approaches, and the goalkeeper area has been identified as one of the vital spots to look at.

Villa’s shot-stopper Emi Martinez has been linked with a move away from Villa in the summer, prompting the club to consider other options to potentially replace the Argentine World Cup winner.

Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke has reported that Kelleher will be allowed to depart Liverpool in the coming weeks for around £40 million.

With Giorgi Mamardashvili already preparing to arrive at Merseyside, having signed last year, as back-up to Alisson, Kelleher is likely to be pushed to third choice in the coming campaign, should he continue his stay with the Reds.

As such, the 26-year-old is likely to move to a club that guarantees first-choice opportunities. The Republic of Ireland international has proven, across numerous seasons, that he is comfortable in the top flight whenever he has called in to replace Alisson.

With recent reports pointing towards a potential move for Kelleher, Villa will be prepared to finalise a deal for the goalkeeper should Martinez depart.
