Romero is said to be intrigued by the idea of moving to Madrid
Atletico Madrid eager to sign Cristian Romero from Tottenham

Atletico Madrid are keen to secure the services of Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur before the upcoming Club World Cup, and the defender is reportedly open to the move.
Although La Liga giants Real Madrid have also been linked with a summer move for Romero, Atletico are determined to intensify their pursuit, according to Eduardo Burgos of AS.
Atletico are reportedly “speeding up” negotiations for the 26-year-old and have made him their “top priority” ahead of the Club World Cup.

Romero is said to be intrigued by the idea of moving to Madrid, but Atletico will face a challenging task in their efforts to convince Tottenham to part ways with the Argentina international.
Romero’s current contract with Tottenham runs until 2027, and previous reports suggest Spurs would demand a fee of £60million for his signature.
Despite this, a move to Atletico could be appealing for Romero, especially as it would offer him the opportunity to work under fellow Argentine Diego Simeone.

Additionally, he would join compatriots such as Julian Alvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, Giuliano Simeone, and Nahuel Molina at the club.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that a transfer is possible, but convincing Tottenham to sell Romero will not be an easy task.
He told GiveMeSport: “It’s a possibility but not something guaranteed as it depends on Daniel Levy, and we know how strong Spurs are in negotiations.
“So it’s something possible, definitely; but it has to be an important financial package or Levy won’t accept anything.”
Romero has previously expressed his frustrations with Tottenham’s performance this season, and how the team’s finish could play a significant role in shaping his future plans.
Currently sitting 14th in the Premier League table, Ange Postecoglou’s side will face Chelsea next in a crucial Premier League clash on Thursday.
