Following medical examinations, the La Liga leaders have officially confirmed that the 26-year-old has sustained an adductor injury and will be out of action for around three weeks.

“Tests conducted on Friday morning have shown that Dani Olmo has suffered a myofascial injury to the adductor of his right leg. The recovery time will be approximately three weeks,” the club statement read.

“Olmo started Thursday’s 3-0 win over Osasuna, and scored a retaken penalty, but had to retire after 28 minutes.

“He has appeared in 28 games in his season as a member of the senior first team squad, scoring eight goals.”

Both Barcelona and Osasuna appealed against the new date, which came just after March’s international break.

Hansi Flick’s side now face a challenging run of crucial fixtures in the latter stages of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League over the next fortnight.

Barcelona were without their star forward, Raphinha, who had played for Brazil against Argentina in Buenos Aires less than 48 hours earlier.

Additionally, Dani Olmo had been involved in international duty, featuring in both of Spain’s Nations League fixtures against the Netherlands last week. Olmo had played 84 minutes just four days prior to starting against Osasuna.
