Bayern Munich ready to rival Chelsea in transfer battle for Jamie Gittens

Bayern Munich are reportedly plotting a summer move for Chelsea transfer target Jamie Gittens.

The Blues saw an improved bid of €50million for the Borussia Dortmund star rejected, having already had an initial bid of €35 million turned down.

According to German Magazine Kicker, Bayern are in talks with Gittens. Dortmund are demanding €70m (£59m) to part ways with the 20-year-old.

It is believed that Gittens has told Dortmund he wants to move to Stamford Bridge this summer. He racked up 48 appearances, scored 12 goals, and provided five assists for Niko Kovac’s side.

In total, he has featured in 106 games, netted 17 times, and registered 14 assists for Dortmund during his time at the club.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Gittens, who is also attracting interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool.

The England U21 international joined Dortmund from Manchester City five years ago and has spent his entire senior career with the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern are looking to bring in a forward this summer to replace the outgoing Leroy Sane, who is set to join Galatasaray on a three-year contract.

Sane would, however, be available to play for Vincent Kompany’s side at the Club World Cup in the United States.

The 29-year-old joined Bayern in 2020 from Manchester City, where he won the Premier League title in 2018 and 2019.

He has clinched the Bundesliga four times with Bayern, as well as two DFL-Supercups, one UEFA Super Cup, and a Club World Cup.
