German sports giant Adidas has secured a four-year deal to become the new sponsor and producer of official balls for the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga, starting from the 2026/27 season. This marks Adidas' return to producing Bundesliga balls, having previously done so between 2010/11 and 2017/18. Derbystar has been the official ball supplier since 2018, introducing a fresh design to the Bundesliga. However, Adidas will now take over, bringing their expertise and innovative designs to the top two divisions of German football. The selection of Adidas as the new ball supplier was welcomed by DFL-managing director Steffen Merkel, who emphasized the importance of a well-designed ball for the top-scoring league in Europe. "We are very happy to once again work with Adidas," Merkel stated. The contract between Adidas and the Bundesliga is set to run for four years, until at least the 2029/30 season. However, there is a strong likelihood of the partnership being extended beyond that period. Adidas' return to the Bundesliga is highly anticipated, and fans can expect to see a new and exciting ball design from the 2026/27 season onwards.
