CAF Confederation Cup : Asante Kotoko paired with Nigerian side Kwara United

The Porcupines will host the first leg in Kumasi before heading to Nigeria for the return leg

Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have been paired against Kwara United of Nigeria in the first preliminary round of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

Kotoko is participating in the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Golden Kicks to win the MTN FA Cup.

The Porcupines are making a return to the CAF Confederation Cup since 2022 and would be looking to make an impact in the competition.

Kotoko host the first leg in Kumasi before travelling to Kwara for the return leg.

Kwara United, meanwhile, clinched their first-ever President’s Federation Cup title following a tense goalless draw and a dramatic 4–3 penalty shootout win over Abakaliki FC.

The first preliminary round is fixed for the weekend of 19 – 21 September for the 1st leg matches and 26 – 28 August for the 2nd leg ties.

The second preliminary will come off in Casablanca in September for the first leg games, and the returning fixtures are from September 24 to October 26, 2023.

The winner of the tie will face either Wydad Casablana in the second preliminary round for a spot in the group stage.

Group Stage: Begins 28 November 2025
