The American billionaire and Chairman of Chelsea Football Club Todd Boehly has launched an attack on the media for making unrealistic reports.

The American businessman who bought the Premier League Club from Roman Abramovich in June 2022, has seen his reign heavily criticised for their dealings on and off the pitch.

The 51-year-old has spent over £1 billion on players but has no European or domestic trophy to show for it—not to mention parading a strong side capable of challenging top and consistent clubs like Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal for the Premier League.

Rather, Todd Boehly who doubles as the co-owner of Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, has been entangled in a power struggle with co-owner Behdad Eghbal.

The Iranian is the co-founder of US private equity firm Clearlake Capital, and while Boehly possesses 13 percent of the club, US private equity firm Clearlake Capital is the majority owner with 61.5 percent.

Interestingly, there is a pre-arranged agreement, that will see Boehly be removed as Chelsea chairman by Clearlake Capital in 2027.

However, the speculations surrounding the ownership and future of the club keep resurfacing; the idea of selling his shares and departing – with fans staging a protest to put more pressure on the owners.

According to reports coming in, Boehly is still positive and assures everyone of a united front for the club.

Insisting, in an attack on the media over Chelsea’s ownership agreement, he told Bloomberg UK

“what the media write about is not realistic.

“We’ve been aligned with what we are trying to do and trying to build. The status quo is something that is just fine.

“We learn from each other. We have to think about long-term what we are trying to accomplish, we have a big stadium development opportunity that we have to flush out.

“And what has been talked about is a lot more drama than what is actually happening,” said Boehly.
