Chelsea confident of keeping Cole Palmer amid UCL qualification clause in contract

Chelsea are confident of keeping star midfielder Cole Palmer beyond the summer amid speculation of a UEFA Champions League qualification release clause in his contract.

The claims have suggested the attacking midfielder’s contract includes a release clause that allows him to leave for around £60m should the Blues fail to qualify for Champions League football next season.

Enzo Maresca’s Blues currently occupy the last spot that would guarantee a place in next season’s league spot.
Despite the rumours, the Daily Mail reports that there is no such clause in his deal that connects to the European competition.

The English international’s drought of 18 games without a goal received a lot of criticism before he ended that run in the 3-1 win against Liverpool over the weekend.
Throughout that drought, Palmer recorded two assists in the process. The report says that Coach Maresca had many discussions to reassure him that the spark would return.
Despite the blip without scoring, Palmer has managed 15 goals and provided eight assists in the league for the Stamford Bridge side, who have now won four games in a row in all competitions.
