Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez is being tempted by the prospect of playing for Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga as Argentine teammates continue to convince him to make a move.
The £106m midfielder is reported to have turned down a move to join Atletico break, according to Diario AS reporter Eduardo Burgos.
The 24-year-old received a lot of pressure from his Argentine teammates during the short international break weeks ago, but the player has insisted he likes being in London, although he is still “keeping his options open”.

Fernandez was part of the Argentina squad that enjoyed two important wins over Uruguay and Brazil during the international break to book their place in the 2026 World Cup.

The former S. L. Benfica man was in the squad alongside Atletico stars, including Rodrigo de Paul, Nahuel Molina Julian Alvarez, Angel Correa and Giuliano Simeone, who were reportedly charged with convincing Fernandez to head to Madrid.
Other suiters are also reported to be in chase for his signature, notably Atletico rivals Real Madrid.
Madrid who are still looking to replace Toni Kroos and the aging Luka Modric in midfield and Fernandez comes in as the perfect player profile to fill the void.
Fernandez’s Chelsea contract will expire in 2032 when the World Cup winner turns 31.
