Atlètico Madrid missed out on a great opportunity to top of La Liga after a dramatic 2-1 loss to Getafe on Sunday afternoon due to an Angel Correa sending off in the final minutes of the game.

Diego’s Simeone’s men had loads of control in the opening hour of the match, coming close on multiple occasions through the likes of Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez.

Their Argentine striker was taken off for Alexander Sorloth who did well to convert from 12 yards 15 minutes after his introduction to put Atletico into the lead.

The game continued to look far from worrying for Atletico until Correa was sent off in the 87th minute, handing Getafe the opening to go for that equalizer.

It got even better for the hosts as Mauro Arambari grabbed two goals in only three minutes to put Getafe ahead on the 90th minute mark.

Now, Atletico risk falling to third place on the La Liga standings as Real Madrid take on Rayo Vallecano at the Santiago Bernabeu.
