Enzo Maresca lauds Chelsea winning the Club World Cup and the Conference League with the youngest squad in the Premier League
Enzo Maresca lauds ‘high expectations’ for Chelsea

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has lauded the high expectations of the club ahead of preparations for Tuesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Cardiff.
Maresca, who described the two days leading up to the 2-0 win against Everton as the “worst 48 hours” as Chelsea’s head coach, suggested his team had not received enough support from the fans, specifically during their blip.
The Italian tactician refused to be drawn in on questions regarding his post-match comments following the win against Everton in weekend’s Premier League, but did reiterate his commitment to the club.

Speaking live on Sky Sports, Maresca was asked to explain the meaning behind his comments once again, but he rather focused on the expectations of the club, and the direction he’s leading them to.
“I think we are in the right direction. For me, it is part of the journey. But for sure, I feel we are getting better and better.
“When you are Chelsea manager you accept that expectations are higher. Also because of Club World Cup, Conference League and fourth place with the youngest squad in the Premier League.
“Now, the expectation is higher. The target for this club is always to improve.”
The 45-year-old was further pushed to answer questions about his earlier comments post-Everton win, but rather turned his focus to Tuesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Cardiff:
“I already spoke about that. I have nothing to add. Cardiff tomorrow, please,” he said.
“We are in an era where everyone can say what they think. I respect people’s opinions, your opinion, but I have nothing to add.
“I already spoke about it and I was quite clear. No more than that. My focus is on tomorrow’s game and reaching the semi-final.”
When asked whether or not he was committed to the club, Maresca added: “Absolutely, yes.”
