Delap has taken his chance, replacing Nicholas Jackson in the starting line-up for Chelsea and delighted about scoring his first goal for the club
Exclusive: Liam Delap reveals how he’s settled in at Chelsea

Chelsea striker Liam Delap has revealed how he has settled in at the club after getting his first goal for the Blues in the Club World Cup tournament in the United States.
The London club secured the signature of the former Ipswich forward after triggering his relegation release clause of £30 million this summer.
Delap’s first game for the Conference League winners came off against Los Angeles FC. He came off the bench to replace the main striker, Nicholas Jackson, in the 60th minute.
The 22-year-old wasted no time in announcing himself as he provided an assist to Enzo Fernandez just minutes after stepping onto the pitch in a 2-0 win over Los Angeles FC in Chelsea’s Club World Cup opener.
After initially securing a win against LAFC, the Blues suffered a heavy 3-1 loss to Flamengo in their second game. Jackson, on his 24th birthday, replaced Depal in the second half with the Blues down by 2-1, but received his marching orders just 5 minutes after coming on.
Delap scored his first Chelsea goal as the Premier League side reached the last 16 of the Club World Cup with a 3-0 win over Esperance Tunis.

In an exclusive interview with FootieCenter‘s Thierry Nyann, Delap reveals how he’s settled in at Chelsea after getting his first goal.
“Yeah, obviously this tournament really helped me settle in. If we were back at the training ground, everyone would be disappearing at three o’clock, you know… And here we’re all together all the time, so it’s a great way to get settled in, and hope it’s been very helpful.”
When asked about the challenge, the number of yellow cards received so far, and the team’s discipline levels, considering that Jackson was sent off in their previous game for a reckless challenge.
“Yeah, obviously I’m still young, and that was my first season last season in the Premier League, and [adapting] into VAR. You have got to be careful.
“Hopefully, I can continue to improve through this season. If I go on a yellow card tonight, then I’d be suspended for the next game, so [I] tried not [to get one]”, Delap told  FootieCenter‘s Thierry Nyann.
