Flick is trusting Ferran to lead Barca’s attack in Lewandowski’s absence

Hansi Flick has lauded Ferran Torres’ form this season and insists that the Spaniard can fill in the shoes of Robert Lewandowski who is sidelined for three weeks due to a thigh injury.

This season, Torres has netted 10 La Liga goals and has a 22 goal contribution tally across all all competitions for the Blaugrana.

It was Ferran’s winner against Atletico Madrid that secured Barca’s place in the upcoming Copa del Rey final, and Flick says Torres has what it takes to step up and make the difference for Barcelona when called upon for the remainder of the season.

Speaking to the press ahead of Barca’s home game against Mallorca on Tuesday, Hansi Flick explained how key Torres can be for the rest of the campaign, lauding his hard work and desire to succeed this term.

“Ferran Torres is very important. I think he is in a good moment, in his career now he has 10 goals in La Liga which is very good and also what he shows, I think as a number 9 that is the right position for him.”

“Of course he is a fast player, but also good on the ball and helps when we defend and thats the dynamic we need and what I see and want from him. He will be key even when Lewy returns”, Flick added.

With six games remaining in La Liga, Barca are five wins away from a second league title in three years, and Flick will be hoping Ferran can continue to help his team as they aim for all possible titles with a likely treble on the cards in their next 10 matches.
