Okraku’s leadership credentials are well-established, having been re-elected as President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a second term in October 2023. In a landslide victory, he secured 117 YES votes, with only two NO votes and one abstention, demonstrating his widespread support within the Ghanaian football community.
His appointment as second Vice President is a recognition of his leadership at the GFA, where he has spearheaded efforts to revitalize Ghanaian football since assuming office in 2019. Under his tenure, he has championed transparency, grassroots development, women’s football, and youth programs; initiatives that have earned him recognition across the African football community.
With Ghana’s rich footballing history, his presence on the CAF EXCO is expected to strengthen the country’s voice in continental football affairs while contributing to the broader development of the sport across Africa.
As part of a new leadership team, Okraku joins Faouzi Lekjaa, who will serve as the First Vice President.
Other notable appointments include Pierre-Alain Mounguengui as 3rd Vice President, representing Central Africa; Bestine Kazadi Ditabala as Fourth Vice-President, making history as a pioneering female leader; and Feizal Sidat as Fifth Vice-President, bringing decades of experience from his time as President of the Mozambican Football Federation.
This diverse leadership team showcases the potential of African football, with their collective experience and passion offering hope for a more unified CAF under Patrice Motsepe’s leadership. Their appointments signal a new direction where no region or constituency is left behind.
